Liebherr and KRONE present eCELSINEO as an economical and environmentally friendly solution for trailer refrigeration.

Liebherr and KRONE will be presenting the new eCELSINEO trailer refrigeration system at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover from 17 to 22 September. The advantages of modular refrigeration - such as flexible utilisation of the refrigeration modules, simultaneous defrosting and cooling, easier servicing - can now be combined with self-sufficient battery systems.

Technology, innovation and the environment: eCELSINEO

The modular eCELSINEO cooling system from Liebherr can now be connected fully electrically to all Krone Cool Liner vehicles and a battery pack. Compared to conventional cooling systems, the use of a combustion engine is not required here. Depending on the choice of battery system, applications for numerous purposes are possible.

Since the start of development of the CELSINEO modular cooling system, Liebherr has also provided a version for highly efficient electric operation in addition to the version for conventional diesel operation. The absence of a diesel drive and the simple assembly and connectivity with the electric components mean that the overall trailer system is ready for use quickly and in a practical manner.

Performance up, emissions down

The CELSINEO cooling system for semi-trailers has a power requirement of around 15 kW in the deep-freeze area. It comprises three refrigeration modules, each of which has a self-sufficient and hermetic refrigeration circuit, can be controlled individually and provides the necessary power with high efficiency as required. The comprehensive electrification adds further advantages, such as zero emissions and reduced noise pollution: The driver no longer hears the diesel or generator drive behind the cab - because it no longer exists.

CELSINEO - ideal for electrification

Liebherr's innovative technology relies on the intelligent interaction of the three CELSINEO refrigeration modules, which provide cooling capacity as required, with the high-voltage energy storage system installed under the trailer floor.
