The Regensburg-based transport and freight-forwarder, Schmid Transport and Spedition GmbH & Co, has taken delivery of 33 new Box Liner container carriers from Krone for its national and international logistics operation. Schmid requires a hard-working and reliable container carrier with flexibility and easy loading for its demanding, pick-up-and-drop, sea container and swap body service and so selected two versions of Krone’s Box Liner for the job: The Box Liner eLTU70 and Box Liner eLTU4. Both container chassis are designed for multi-position use and can accommodate any size of standard container or tank from 20’ to 40’. Manufactured using the latest KTL – cathodic-dip paint process, for effective corrosion protection, the low-weight trailers are specified for improved cargo distribution and maximum payload. Markus Schmid, proprietor of Spedition Schmid explains: "The service provided for our customers is of the highest standard and over the last 70 years has never stood still. Therefore, we need trailer chassis which not only cope with a wide variety of container sizes but also stand up to the daily pressures of round-the-clock loading. These extendable Box Liners are perfect for our customers’ needs and make a valuable addition to our vehicle fleet.” Schmid Transport und Spedition GmbH & Co. KG The Schmid family business has been active in the national and international commercial transport industry since 1948. Now, with 180 employees and in addition to its headquarters in Regensburg, the company operates over 110 tractor units and 260 trailers from locations in Nuremberg, Bamberg and Munich.
