Krone wins European Transport Award for Sustainability
For its innovative Smart Capacity Management, Krone was awarded the European Transport Prize for Sustainability in the Telematics category yesterday evening in Munich. The jury thus acknowledges the sustainable approach of this telematics solution, which enables intelligent networking with freight exchanges for efficient scheduling in freight traffic. Krone Smart Capacity Management is an information exchange platform connected to a freight exchange where digital data is received from the sender and then forwarded to the shipper and the consignee - and vice versa. The currently available payload and loading area, type and quantity of goods as well as the current location are determined from the digital data of the Krone telematics system installed in the trailer in conjunction with the electronic braking system, load space recognition and load carrier sensor system and compared in real time with the data from the transport orders offered by the freight exchanges. The freight forwarder receives additional transport proposals for goods according to the "either-or principle", which are displayed in the Krone telematics portal for booking. When a transport order is booked, the digital delivery note data is transferred directly to the ERP systems of the parties involved in the shipment during the journey of the trailer. This ensures the best possible utilisation of the trailer and increases transport efficiency, i.e. empty runs are avoided, available loading capacities are used and CO2 is saved. Head of Sales DACH Ansgar Jansen and Head of Marketing Stefan Oelker accepted the award on behalf of the Krone team; in his short acceptance speech, Oelker underscored the holistic and ecologically sustainable approach of Smart Capacity Management, with which the trailer can always be used to the best possible capacity. The European Transport Prize has been awarded annually by Huss-Verlag since 2014. Its aim is to encourage companies in the commercial vehicle sector to act sustainably and to help anchor the principles of sustainable development even more firmly. The prize also aims to demonstrate that ecology can go hand in hand with profitability and competitiveness. The submitted applications will be evaluated by an independent jury of experts according to a points system. The expert jury includes renowned personalities from business, science, associations and the media with profound knowledge of the commercial vehicle industry.
