At the IAA Transportation 2024, KRONE is unveiling the KRONE Smart Assistant with the new "eCMR Support" function, now available as standard. The electronic consignment note, eCMR, replaces the previously required paper form in four copies. The technological foundation for this milestone in the digitalization of the transport industry is the KRONE Smart Assistant, which KRONE introduced at Transport Logistic 2023.

The KRONE Smart Assistant technology allows crucial information related to the trailer to be digitally provided and processed, information that was previously handled mostly on paper: the document folder, trailer check, and damage report. A QR code, fitted as standard on the trailer, enables the trailer check function, allowing the current condition of the vehicle to be quickly captured and transmitted using a smartphone. This enables fleet managers to have an up-to-date overview of their fleet's readiness at any time.

The additional eCMR function becomes available once integration into the customer’s processes is complete. The KRONE Smart Assistant thus provides access to the electronic consignment note eCMR, the most important accompanying document for all transports. In close collaboration between KRONE and its partner, LKW Walter, a leading transport company from Austria, the digital eCMR has already been successfully implemented and rolled out across Europe.

The eCMR revolutionizes overall communication within the supply chain by serving as a central interface and ensuring that all parties involved in the transport process have the same level of information. The eCMR not only leads to more efficient transport handling and simpler administration but also eliminates potential sources of error in the documentation process. A key challenge of the new module was optimizing the driver’s digital signature. Additionally, the digital technology represents a significant advance in terms of sustainability.

Ralf Faust, Managing Director of Service at KRONE Trailer, says: "The KRONE Smart Assistant is a vital component of our digital transformation fields in the trailer – comparable to a powerful operating system. It revolutionizes document management for all KRONE trailers by radically simplifying the handling of vehicle documents like eCMR and other services, without requiring additional apps. This markets most user-friendly offering provides our customers with real added value every day."

KRONE Smart Assistant: No One-Time Costs Required

The plug-and-play solution KRONE Smart Assistant requires no significant initial investment. Nor is prior registration, a special smartphone app, or training necessary. The basic "Trailer Check" function can be performed by scanning the individual QR code on the trailer with any standard mobile phone, using the language setting on the device. The software immediately documents changes and damage to the trailer, as well as deficiencies such as missing pallets or lashing equipment. Where necessary, the KRONE Smart Assistant customer portal triggers corresponding alerts.

The concept of the "Talking Trailer," which now digitally represents not only the vehicles technical condition but also the consignment note, can also be realized with older trailers and competitor brands without telematics equipment. These vehicles can be seamlessly integrated into the digital Smart Assistant customer portal, allowing them to be operated more safely, economically, and sustainably.
